At the beginning of February 2023, a massive restriction project of PFAS was submitted to ECHA by 5 European countries (Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands).
On March 22, 2023, a 6-month consultation period started, during which ECHA is identifying industrial applications of PFAS. At the end of this period, ECHA's recommendations will be sent to the European Commission, which will then be responsible for legislating.
Various scenarios are possible, including a severe restriction or even a total ban on PFASs. In the short to medium term, the world of waterproofing will be affected.
