IIR (isobutylene isoprene rubber), also called PIB (polyisobutylene), is resistant to external ageing, extreme temperatures and ozone.

IIR has good compatibility with glycol-based brake fluids and possesses a high gas impermeability. However, it is not very resistant to oils and greases.

Application fields and products

The areas of application for IIR include construction and building, the pneumatic industry, and transportation. It is also used for gas or vapor sealing in valves.

IIR is also appreciated for its excellent damping and electrical insulation qualities.
